HISTORY OF THE PUBLISHING GROUP VERLAGSGRUPPE NEWS

With 15 magazines the publishing group Verlagsgruppe NEWS is Austria’s biggest magazine publisher. The company’s secret of success: a varied spectrum of topics for every interest and top-class journalism. The aim of the company’s approximately 700 members of staff is to play a decisive role in shaping the future of Austria’s media landscape. A growing number of new, creative and sophisticated magazines and multimedia communication solutions add to the market and continue to strengthen our leading position in the local publishing business.
 
The business was founded in 1992 together with the magazine NEWS. Since 1998 the publishing group Verlagsgruppe NEWS forms part of Gruner + Jahr, the biggest European publishing house. In 2001 the publishing group Verlagsgruppe NEWS merged with Zeitschriften Verlags Beteiligungs-Aktiengesellschaft.
